Aye Yai Yai! Today we are talking about Vegetarian Tex-Mex food in Madrid. Madrid is so much more than Spanish food, and for this native Texan who is obsessed with variety and diversity in life, I am so happy to see more and more international options sprouting up in the city. Coming from one of the food capitals of the U.S., Houston, I crave food flavors from around the world, and being Texan I love our “national” cuisine, Tex-Mex. Top that off with being American, I expect large portions and for my food to come out fast. And that is just what we have in Madrid; 3 fast-casual chains that offer all the above. They pride themselves on using fresh ingredients and follow the U.S. Tex-Mex fast-casual restaurant chain model of Chipotle. Which is where you view an assembly line of options, make your selection, and have your food made right in front of you. Best part yet about all 3 places is that they have a variety of vegetarian Tex-Mex options that you can eat on site or order to-go. Let’s check them out! For all my plant-based people, do you know where to find the best veggie burgers in Madrid? You may not take Madrid for a city that has a thriving veggie burger scene, but as the demand for meatless options rises so do the offerings. Most of our vegan and vegetarian restaurants serve veggie burgers, but did you know that many hamburger joints are starting to offer plant-based options as well, and some of them are damn good. I should know, cause I’ve just about tried them all. I think I’ve scarfed down about 25 burgers in the name of research to bring my lovely readers this list. How did it fare? Well, some were just OK, the majority were not so good, and then there were those delectable burgers that tantalized my taste buds! Take a peek below and let me know what you think about my picks for the absolute best veggie burgers in Madrid.

In less than a week, they have swiftly raised the plant-based bar to an impressively high level in the city. We’re talking gorgeous and creative dishes that are vibrant in color, complex in flavor and celebrate vegetables on every plate. Behind the sophistication of their culinary creations is a traditionally trained chef who excels at “making healthy delicious.” Continue reading “Best New Vegetarian Friendly Restaurant in Madrid”
Hello all you plant-based lovers! Today I’m taking it to Ethiopia. I’m spotlighting a couple from the Horn of Africa who have been tantalizing the taste buds of Madrileños for nearly a decade with their fantastic restaurants. I’ve been asking around and it seems that not many people are familiar with Ethiopian food, which is a shame because the cuisine is luscious and a terrific option for plant-based eaters. I think you all will enjoy reading about Nuria and Hanan; two delicious restaurants that serve up vegetarian and vegan Ethiopian food in Madrid. Spanish cuisine is often held in high regard worldwide, and although there is more to it than jamón serrano and tapas, I’m just not the biggest fan…and I live in Spain. Blasphemy! Sure there are some great plates, but as a vegetarian and lover of “exotic” flavors, I find the selection is limited in veggies and abundant in meats and simple flavors. Coming from Houston, dubbed “America’s newest capital of great food” by Food and Wine magazine, we are fortunate to have access to an endless variety of high-quality flavorful food from around the world: Mexican, Colombian, Cuban, Indian, Ethiopian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Persian, the list goes on and on. All providing many vegetarian options. The variety isn’t as ubiquitous here in Madrid, but great options do exist and one of my favorites is Banibanoo. Persian food in Madrid. Plant-based people, you are gonna love this! Continue reading “Vegetarian Persian Food in Madrid at Banibanoo”
